Interviewing Tips & TrainingPowerful Interviewing Strategies for CandidatesFinding the right job for yourself is challenging in any economy; either there is nothing that is a fit in your salary range, or there are 55 open positions in a myriad of fields, and the multitude of options are overwhelming. It seems as if the supply and demand game is a constant in the field of employment. For a candidate in the new millennium, flexibility and adaptability is key - and change is a constant. First and foremost, have a clear understanding of what you cannot do and are unwilling to learn, and although it seems like common sense - stay away from positions that require those skills. You become valuable to a company when you understand yourself and what you are willing to do, and capitalize on that. Identify what you are good at, what you enjoy and are passionate about in a role, and parallel those aspects to new possibilities. Be open-minded, creative and coachable - you never know what can arise. Have your reference contact information, samples of your work and reason for your interest in both the position you are applying for and the company that you are interviewing with (do your homework) - know why you want this opportunity. As you have heard many times before, practice makes perfect - there is nothing obtuse about preparing for the interview, after all it is your audition, so be clever and prepare. If you have taken part in any skill or assessment program, know what special and personal traits you can bring to the table. Know the unique difference that you can make in this position and with this specific company. Your future employer will appreciate your diligence and thoroughness in preparing yourself as a candidate, and differentiating yourself from the sea of other candidates.
